It's Probably Ashley

Hi.

I've been trying to keep things simple and short these days. I find it tiring nowadays to exert more effort than needed, which is a bad habit in itself but I can't help it. Maybe I'll try changing it one day.

-----

We ate in Chicken BonChon in SM North Annex -

After lunch we went to watch Rise of the Guardians~ Awesome movie! After seeing its trailer a few months back, I made it a point to watch out for it because I felt that a movie like this should NOT be missed - and how right I was. It. Was. Amazing. Hhhhhnnnnnnggggg Jack Frost. It's the kind of movie I'd be willing to watch again and again and again.

Part of the allure it had on me was its message, and it gave me a sort of epiphany while I was watching it. See, I wasn't honestly planning on telling my future kids about Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy (they aren't really part of our culture but they're still popular characters amongst kids), and even the Sandman. What's the point, I'd ask. The Boogeyman is part of the list but for obvious reasons.

But after watching the movie, I realized that it's not so pointless to make kids believe in characters that we think don't exist. WE think they aren't real. THEY do. And part of childhood is believing in magical creatures that give us a sense of wonder, mystery and most especially curiosity. And they need to be eternally curious of the world around them, don't they? So I realized that to give them Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman is to give them adventures, leading to  the discovery of new things. So I guess I'll give them that kind of childhood because they deserve it.

I also made the decision to include the Boogeyman in, because poor Pitch needs some love too. Lol. But the greater importance is that they should recognize what fear is, not to be afraid of the dark but to realize that it can be conquered by their own light.

Shit like this builds character, I think.

Roughly a week prior, my friend Kimi who was living in Australia arrived here for her very, very short vacation and we scheduled a small gathering of friends so we could catch up on things and hug each other and stuff.

We had lunch in Tokyo Tokyo and had coffee and desserts in Afters, a café somewhere... north. I don't remember, we rode in a cab. Anyway, it was really fun seeing old high school friends again and reminiscing on our good times.

Not a very flattering shot but it'll do lol.

Just last week Nikki, Challs and I baked this cute Angel Cake! We had quite the adventure while looking for materials and ingredients, running around the city looking for cheap supplies and those illusive strawberries. So glad we found some in the nick of time! We also had a field day while inside the Chocolover's shop - baking paraphernalia galore! I want to come back to replenish my stash and buy some more cake tools. :D The cake we baked was awesome~ We're planning on baking again this week. Hoping things go well again~!

And finally, a week after it was first shown in the cinemas, I was able to watch the Rorouni Kenshin live action movie! Kenso and I didn't really plan on watching it, especially after hearing that it would only be shown for a week here but after seeing our friends' reactions to the movie and reading the very positive reviews, we went for it. And it did NOT disappoint! Such well-choreographed stunts! The beautiful costumes! The ambience! The story! The actors! I was spazzing the whole time it was showing. Haha.

So far my December has been quite interesting. Christmas is just a few weeks away, too! I'm on the edge of my seat with excitement as to what lies ahead. /o/

So here's an overdue update of what happened to me for the rest of November, which I only remembered to do now - halfway through December.

As always, photo-spammed for your convenience.

-----

Joined that LU Live! Convention thing and cosplayed our Assassin Crosses. Too bad I left my scarf so my costume was a little failure. Still was a great event because I got to see Kamikazee play live. ♥

We played games after we changed back into our normal clothes and on the photos above we wrestled each other while wearing those adorable Poring costumes.

Ate at TriNoma food court because we were bored... I think.

Went back to Sbarro because I wouldn't stop raving about wanting more pizzas. That cheesecake was heavenly!

Went to Little Tokyo with Nikki and Wans because we were craving for Japanese food~ Above pics are us eating melon pops.

Noms! I forgot what ramen we ordered. But I definitely want some more! We ate in Oishinbo again, lol. And... That's it... I think. I can't come up with more pics simply because I forgot where I placed them.

Overall, I had a great November!

This month I went to Matabungkay Beach Hotel and Resort in Matabungkay, Lian, Batangas which is only a few kilometers away from my hometown, Balayan. My family and I used to come to that beach during the summer and more often when there's not much people around; that place could get so crowded easily because it was - still is, apparently - quite popular with both the locals and tourists. I think I blogged about it here before in our previous trip there. I don't know.

Anyway, snippets here and there from our camera. Enjoy.

Hotel facade. Sadly I didn't get to capture the whole front of the hotel.

The very first starfish I came across. After that I saw about twenty or thirty more lying around.

We resorted to kayaking because there's no way we could swim with all the seaweed around.

Guests from neighboring resorts. If you take a close look at the water you can see that it's riddled with seaweed. I'm really disappointed that we were unable to swim in the ocean! So much for getting a beachfront hotel. :(

Quite windy but not much sun. I love it.

Frog by the poolside. Saw it swimming in the pool and almost got sucked in by the filters before I fished it out.
You could have died, Trevor. I saved your life.

So there, a weekend in Matabungkay. Got there for cheap, too, because of their promo (which is over now). New update very soon. I'm quite excited because I'll be spending my weekend in another resort with my friends. Snippets to follow. Can't waaaait.

Hi!

Just letting the very few people who read this blog know that I'm still alive. Lol. I got a little lazy busy the past few months, which carelessly explains the lack of updates recently. I've also had a lot of school work done, which gives me a sort of valid excuse. Haha.

Anyway I purchased these lens some time ago and I only remembered to post about them now. These are the Girly Chip Soy Latte Brown lens that I've decided to use for casual days. I got them from Japanese Candy. You guys should check out that sale they're having up till now; super cheap lens and cute designs. They ship worldwide, I think.

Disclaimer: This is not a review, and not a sponsored post. I'm just posting this because I want to, and also I'm testing out my camera.

So here's some pics of the lens, plus some info.

Front and back view of the vials.

Lens design, plus the free lens case that came with them.

The design, up close. You can click the picture if you want a larger view.

I must admit I was a little disappointed with the design. It doesn't show much when I wear the them (no pics, sorry) and it's most likely because I have dark brown eyes and that obscures the design, I think. I was aiming  for something with the same effects as the Max Pure Brown lens, though with the realization that my eye color affects the entire outcome I'm guessing I won't have much luck no matter what series I buy.

So that's it for now. To keep things afloat maybe I'll post a few photos of my recent trip to Matabungkay with le boyfie. Out for now~

Blogging to pass the time, lol. Actually I'm just doing this so I won't have to type that reflection paper/essay that's due tomorrow. Yay for pathetic excuses! :))

Classes got suspended today, although the announcement came super late as should always be expected. I'm glad I never got to leave the house because by the time I was gearing up to go the flood outside was almost knee-deep already. I just waited around for the late announcement before changing to my lazy rainy-day clothes, hehe.

Then I spent the next 10 hours watching Let's-Play videos in YouTube and lurking around in Facebook like a good netizen should. :D I actually got around to watching the walkthroughs of them creepy games like Amnesia and Cry of Fear; being bundled up under your blankets on a cold day while watching scary-ass videos is THE best thing ever.

I think the only setback is that I didn't get to do my report which I worked so hard on. Well, not that hard but I did put a considerable amount of effort and I think that should at least be mentioned. Fortunately my professor was kind enough to allow me to deliver my report next week, probably because my work partner begged him to give us a chance. I'm thinking she couldn't do the entire thing by herself. After all, I had 90% of the data with me. >:D Okay, I may have imagined that was what happened but he did give us a chance and I'm very grateful.

So, what else did I do...?

Obviously.

My (now empty) box of chocolate truffles and Dandelion honey tea~ ♥

Hehe! I absolutely love lazy afternoons. I was also planning on baking some choco fudge brownies but I later decided to save my stash for another day. Maybe tomorrow? I still need a proper baking pan, after all.

Now I just remembered that movie review I should also get started on. Haha, so much work to do~ I've decided on reviewing the new Spiderman movie, since that was the most recent film I've watched. ALSO IT'S FREAKING AWESOME. :D Loved how they caught Spidey's sense of humor really well, and the cinematography was well-done. It's a little fast-paced but I like it. Will post about that movie date another time. Right now it's time for me to make dinner and stuff my face with more food. ~~~~~~~~/o/

Just another quick update. No, there's nothing wrong with your browser; I've tweaked my blog's template and here's the temporary layout - just a clean, simple aesthetic. I've been leaning more and more into minimalism and I've been trying to incorporate the idea into most things in my life, including the way I dress up. Some would argue that it's being lazy but I like to pretend that's not it. :))

In case no one noticed (which is very likely), I also changed my URL to subliminalwish. I thought it would be much  easier to remember than my old one (silhouetteash). Also much easier to spell, lol.

Brother's Burger 50% off promo! Taken last June 23. :>
My burger looks weird, lol.
July is literally just around the corner. In two weeks I'll be having my prelims exams, plus the two most important men in my life would be celebrating their respective birthdays! Already I'm panicking a bit because I don't know what gifts to get them. Any suggestions?

Noms! Nikki and I made some onigiri last week~ ♥
I'm marking this date on my calendar as I've received some good news from my best friend, Justine - she'll be giving birth today~! She wanted to share the same birthday with her would-be daughter and just this morning she and her husband headed to the hospital. Too excited to finally meet my goddaughter! :D

Tonight's dinner: a half-eaten cookie. JK, lol.
Wow, this has been such an interesting post so far. /sarcasm. Lol. I probably just did this for the sake of blogging. I don't like to keep things stagnant, plus it's a great way to keep myself busy. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight because Kenso and I will be watching The Amazing Spiderman tomorrow~! I've been hearing great feedback about the movie so I have high hopes that this won't be a let-down. I reserved some tickets two days ago as a surprise but somehow he always finds out about it, lol.

Will post pictures of the movie date after tomorrow! Oya~ ♥

Hi! Just a very quick-ish post of how my week was so far~  And since I can't remember what happened for the most part of the week, let's fast forward to last Thursday where my good friend Maddie and I had a cosplay shoot in Quezon City Memorial Circle.

I went as Kaiko, the genderbent version of Kaito who's a Japanese voice synthesizer program, called Vocaloid. They're quite popular nowadays. Plz look their songs up in Youtube - you'll never regret it.

"As the breeze comes, I feel your embrace."
Or some shit like that, lol. I actually joined this shoot a bit impulsively as I've been entertaining the notion of finally selling most of my costumes and cosplay stuff, just to make some more space for my clothes. #cosplayerproblems

Shot by kuya Pef Decena, who was very kind enough to come with us on such short notice. ♥

Maybe next week I'll post up an album with all the things I'll sell, including clothes I don't/never got to wear.

I think out of all my costumes I'll probably miss Kaiko the most. But that's not really saying something because I've cosplayed very few characters. Still, I liked her costume the best - my Assassin Cross coming in second place.

/Random picture of a kitty family I encountered while loitering around QCMC.
The mommy cat was sooo sweet - she even came up to me to play with my scarf. ;A;

"Nyaaaa~!"
Finished shooting by 6pm. After that we were just too exhausted for anything else so we all went straight home.

The next day I dropped by SM North after class to meet up with a client. I sold my ToraDora uniform costume to a very cute little girl :D And while I was roaming in the department store waiting for her, I bumped into Seph and Shai of LoveChic! I was quite hesitant to approach them at first, but YOLO. :D

Le happy derp face~ :D

They were incredibly nice, and very friendly. ♥ In retrospect, I feel that I spazzed so much it kind of freaked them out a bit, lol. And if they had any afterthought along the lines of, "Heh, that was weird. And creepy." I'd never blame them. :))

The week isn't done yet, I know. Insomnia does a lot of things to you. :D Tomorrow my boyfriend and I are going to attend the last day of the 11th Philippine Toy Convention in Megamall. Will upload pics as soon as I get enough sleep.

Will end this abruptly with one last shot of my face, lol.

Till my next post~ ♥

Quick update for June because I don't have as much free time anymore. Funny how things can change so rapidly you didn't even have time to blink. But here it is.

I finally got my SD card to work, so I expect that I can finally upload and sort all the pictures dating waaaay back into last Christmas. Maybe.

For now, here are some snapshots of me and Kenso during the Zalora PH opening last May 9th.

Featuring my most-used top, as it is one of my absolute favorites.
I use it a lot if you'll notice. :D

The "OohI'mannoyedrightnowletmejustpassive-aggressivelyputmyhandonmyheadfashionably" peg. To be honest I wasn't really trying to make a face. I was quite annoyed because the venue was a bit small, hence you'll accidentally bump into a few elbows and the occasional glass of gin and tonic.

Le sleepy face. :D

Overall it wasn't that bad. Saw some celebrities, but Kenso and I generally just wandered around and went people-watching. It got boring too quickly.

Okay, it got really boring. LOL.

Social events really aren't my style. Oh well~ Ja!

Hello~ Since I'm super bored and I've got a lot of time in my hands I've decided to blog about our recent trip to our hometown, Balayan, Batangas. We had a four-day vacation during the Holy Week last April and my mother decided it was the perfect time to visit my grandparents.

Plus they were in the process of tearing down our old house in place of a smaller, much more modern house for my grandparents to live in comfortably, and my mom wanted to see how things were going.

This post will probably be picture-heavy. Probably. Also incoherent. So brace yourselves. All pictures taken by my little sister, btw.

Just arrived. Tired as hell.
L-R: My cousin MJ, little sis April, and my mom.

The first thing we did when we got there was SLEEP! Honestly, last April I experienced one of the worst heat waves I could remember. Being stuck in a crowded car with no working AC in the middle of the day for four to five hours can really take everything out of you. It didn't help that the fucking car broke down TWICE in the middle of nowhere and with nobody to help you push the car because all the passengers were either teeny ladies or children below the age of twelve. Heh. But we survived. I was quite envious of my mom and April, who didn't ride on the car with us and instead commuted to Batangas. Lucky them~

The next day out aunt invited us to go visit a petting zoo located in a nearby beach. It was this cool, clean place that hosted a variety of small animals.

Le kyot chicks.

Turkeh. They got a bit startled when we came near then, lol.

So I was resting my hand on their cage when this little rascal tried to grab my hand and bite it!
Then he went around and guarded the place like, "Go away bitches. Grr. Grr."
I think it's so aggressive because of the behavior of the last guests. The owner said they were frequently played tricks on.

Their main attraction are the rabbits which they breed but don't sell yet because the population is still too small. Oddly enough I can't find the pictures of the rabbits that I took.

The next day we went to join the procession in the town church, done during the Holy Week. With the church as the starting point, the carved images of Mama Mary and Jesus would circle the town and then return to the church, which would roughly take about two to three hours. Some call it a form of  public penance where they'd ask for absolution by hurting themselves. Not making fun of it or anything, I just don't think it's necessary to hurt oneself in order to ask for forgiveness from the Big Man. When you're sorry, you're sorry. Anyway that's my opinion.

Although, the procession doesn't really give you anything more that sore feet from walking all evening.

Part of the church, plus Mama Mary's statue.
My parents got married here. ♥

Me and my Aunt holding our candles to be lit later.

The members of my family who joined the prusisyon.

The statue we were supposed to follow. We were at the back of the line.

Lookit how many people came!
That's my aunt and uncle in the foreground, left side.

Later that evening.

When you're just watching the crowd walk past you on the street, it's a beautiful sight to marvel at - hundreds of candles brightly lit, walking in unison under the clear night sky. Just lovely. ♥

Plus the statues are all beautifully lit as well.

When we got to the furthest part of the town there were a lot of twists and turns in the road. Since we were at the back of the line, shall we say, all we had to do was follow the crowd wherever they turned. That and we heavily relied on our grandmother who knew the route by heart so we just went ahead and walked.

Around the end of a certain narrow road my grandmother led us to a street where most of the other devotees proceeded to, while telling us that this is the last part of the journey and we'll be back in the church shortly thereafter.

But when we turned on the corner, this was what we saw:

Street was jam-packed with little stores. The whole place transformed in to a small marketplace overnight!

So where was the crowd?? Apparently they took a detour precisely because of that market-thing. We got lost along the way and ended up here. Haha!

In the end we decided to wrap up the night by praying to the nearest chapel in the area. My mother says that if you've got something that you needed divine help with, that was the place to go to. Provided that you believe hard enough.

Lit a few candles and said a few prayers.

We got home just in time for dinner~ What I love most about Balayan is their wet market, which offers a wide array of fresh seafood to choose from. I've had more than my fill of squid, fresh fish and my favorite seaweed! ♥ Food. :D

On our last free day we were invited once again by my aunt to spend the afternoon on the beach, something my siblings and I looked forward to. It was in Matabungkay, a known tourist spot in the area. The place is frequented by locals and tourists alike, and it's perfect for an afternoon picnic because you can rent a raft that comes with a grill and is built to resemble a hut so you can roast your lunch in the middle of the sea, or even take a nap while you're at it, lol.

Little sister and cousin exploring the raft.

Keisha and I, hiding in the shade. :))

Burying G3 in the sand, lol!

Me going, "Tangina so salty!" Obviously not used to the ocean. Or the sun.

Oh, and hey guys you better make sure to clean up after yourselves when you're in the beach. A little while after we dipped in the water we found a USED diaper floating happily along. YUCK! And we found some junk food wrappers, plastic bottles, and fruit peelings. Really, really not nice. Respect the ocean and its inhabitants, plz. How would you like it if other people threw trash in your house, eh??

Anyway, we spent the entire afternoon and much of the evening submerged in the water and eating like crazy :))))

Ending this post with pics of the glorious sunset at the beach ♥

So lovely~

That's it for my vacation. We went home first thing the next morning. And while I'm glad to be back to my wifi I'm very much thankful for the four-day retreat. Quite a relaxing experience, and I definitely can't wait to come back in June. Ja!
